Oscar asking for help
A blood hunter by the name of Oscar Fallow appeared at the faerie conclave to ask for help from their former prey. It seems word has spread that something is amiss with the faeries, a small number of them were spotted acting out of sorts, and worse yet they seem to be organized working for some mysterious figure that is pulling the strings from behind the scenes. Oscar knew the faeries had information on Tibalt and hoped this meant he was their common foe. He attempted to appeal to their opportunistic nature and asked for an audience with their enigmatic leader, but was promptly denied.
Oscar’s request
The blood hunters are struggling to fight against Tibalt. Oscar revealed that it is impossible to fight a foe that can disappear in a moment’s notice, always swiftly avoiding death or capture even if they somehow gained the upper hand. They once again need the help of one such as Frederick who had the means to temporarily trap a planeswalker in a prison they can’t escape. Oscar regrets that they had not killed Tibalt in their first victory a decade ago, a mistake which has now accosted them greatly. He hoped that the faeries which seem to know so much about Tibalt could impart upon him some wisdom which would be useful in their fight. Their other source of information was now gone, and their own knowledge a decade out of date.
Tibalt’s rampage
Tibalt has so far tortured and slain in horrifying ways 16 blood hunters, but 13 of those he mutilated at the very beginning of his rampage while the blood hunters were still unaware and unprepared for his return. Our agents focused their information gathering on two questions: how and why. The answer to how he is doing it and how the blood hunters are responding:
Upon his initial arrival Tibalt kidnapped unsuspecting blood hunters in quick succession while they were separated out in the field. He would locate them on monster hunts and kidnap them separately or up to 3 at a time. Despite his confident nature he seems to have been much more careful this time around, not risking confrontation with more than three hunters at any time. The answer to the question how he knew exactly where to find the blood hunters patrol has so far not been unearthed by our agents but it is certainly an avenue for further research. All thirteen of the initial Blood Hunters were located at the same place, in one abandoned shack outside Richmoor, piled up into a grotesque pile of organs and limbs so large the blood hunters that found them couldn’t even enter it. Once they cleared out the shack they found on the walls written with blood and tissue: “How merrily they screamed” followed by what appeared to be a smile drawn with blood. One blood hunter patrol of three veteran hunters claim they also were attacked by Tibalt but managed to defeat him and severely wound him before he planeswalked away in retreat. Following this gruesome event the blood hunters tightened their security, and ensured to stay in groups of 4, but at least three more blood hunters were killed in confrontations with Tibalt or got snatched when they were alone. It seemed the blood hunters would not so easily be defeated by Tibalt this time, but the long awaited eviction from Brightstone by the local military left them homeless and defenseless after which they were forced to undertake a new strategy and go into hiding. There is no further news on the blood hunters but one thing is certain; they are not done fighting yet against Tibalt nor to retake their home.
Other information source
Other information source: The faerie operatives uncover information about a mysterious entity which long ago aided the blood hunters in their fight against Tibalt. According to their sources this entity was extremely powerful, but what is even more puzzling is that it seems to originate from a different plane of existence. Whoever this person was they seem to have tipped the scales of balance heavily in the favor of the blood hunters who were at that point running low on resources. They provided the hunter order with information on how to fight a being as elusive as Tibalt, and according to some sources, they might have even had the means to temporarily bind them to the plane cutting off their escape. This source of information for the blood hunters didn’t act out of the kindness of their heart and there is evidence that they had far more sinister motives if the dark tales from the south are to be believed.
Blood Hunter’s current status
The blood hunters are in hiding after the loss of many companions and their home. Their activities across the region have ceased and the already dangerous and chaotic province has become even darker in their absence. The populace is unnerved at their sudden disappearance and some speak of the days when a powerful devil terrorised the land and the similar air of uncertainty and fear that he brought upon their homes.
