Journal
Crator, as per your request I have investigated this Vivian and her involvement with Dregan and his deceased wife Ellewyn. Vivian died 81 years ago, not long after working with Dregan on solving a personal case. The Azorius investigated her death and did an autopsy, but in the end they marked the case as unresolved. I found her journal within their evidence storage for old cases. Let’s go through the relevant entries together…
Afterwards…
Crator, I.. don’t know what to say. How could you possibly remember any of these events? You weren’t there for any of it.. None of this makes any sense.
The Azorius certainly don’t know anything about this death, but it appears it may have been a murder. If this is important to you Crator I don’t mind investigating it further.
Azorius case information
It would appear that the Azorius know a bit more than would seem at first glance.
Rather, they truly were clueless when she died 81 years ago and her case files would prove the same. When you asked me to dig out information about her I looked at her case only. It was a single case of a mysterious death marked as unsolved and I didn’t think much about it seeing how most of Dimir’s assassinations end in much the same way. At your request I dug a bit deeper yesterday, and sure enough it appears that an entire investigation dedicated to Vivian’s unsolved murder was disguised under the surface as a completely separate case. What happened to her sparked a deep investigation that was spearheaded by one Deputy of Indictment, Srebrenko. This person was also mentioned in Vivian’s diary as one of the people that helped her with the Dregan case. Anyway, it would seem that he took a very personal interest in the case as he spent the past eight decades pursuing this investigation in his own personal time after all trails turned cold. He’s been searching rigorously for her murderer and, it seems, has never stopped.
He is no fool either, the case files are nigh unreachable. He spared no expense in ensuring adequate magical protection for his personal vault wherein he keeps them. Why is it so important to him to keep these files away from prying eyes?
Though I couldn’t get my hands on the full investigation, I did find a report on a supposedly related victim. Because there is a separate victim technically unrelated to Srebrenko’s investigation it also has a separate case in the Azorius archives to which I have access. It follows:
Name: Yatolit Race: Vedalken Age of death: 49 Occupation: Artificer Affiliation: Guildless Date of birth: 17.10.9995 Date of death: 21.11.10044 Place of death: Urban Reach Sanitarium Details of death: Yatolit was found dead on his bed within his single room at Urban Reach Sanitarium. He was placed within a single room due to violent behavior. His skin was blackened and torn, it appears that he was covered in some sort of black viscous liquid. There were lacerations on his body, as though he was whipped, however they appear to have been inflicted from within his body. (Who wrote this? That makes no sense. - written in small letters on the case file.) Autopsy revealed no clear signs of external trauma other than that lacerations which were internal. Yatolit’s face was frozen still, his mouth was opened unnaturally wide which seems to have caused the sides of his mouth to tear. His eyes were partially melted and his pupils were faded and hard to see. After the removal of his cadaver it was noticed that where he laid on the bed a large pool of the same black liquid remained, has stiffened and rendered the mattress unusable. It was burnt afterwards.
Details of commitment: Yatolit was commited to the sanitarium by local authority after he displayed signs of schizophrenia and severe paranoia. He claimed that his guardian angel had turned against him and wanted to kill him and believed that nobody could help him. As his delusion worsened he claimed that his “angel” was with him his entire life but that he no longer believed in him and so the angel had become intent on harming him. He described his guardian angel as faceless and with dark wings. When asked if he was there all the time or only sometimes Yatolit responded that he was there at that very moment, standing behind the interviewer. Due to his severe state of fright he was heavily medicated to allow him to function with some normalcy but there were days where he would scream himself to exhaustion and fall to the ground motionless out of fatigue. Due to this, and the fact that he would sometimes become violent in his perceived need for self defense, he was put into a private room and outfitted with a muzzle and jacket to prevent him from screaming and tiring himself out needlessly.
Prior to his commitment in the sanitarium he worked as a self-made artificer and had a workshop on Tin Street called The Tinker’s Dam. He graduated from Prism University and was well known as a competent artificer. Several years before his commitment he opened several other branches of his business on the Transguild Promenade as well as the Smelting Quarter. His friends and family claimed that he never displayed signs of severe paranoia and schizophrenia until recently, but that he did suffer from severe night terrors in his childhood which sometimes involved his angelic figure.
(Scribbled at the bottom) Check the case of Vivian Lawson from 9995, it has some similarities.
