Uncovering Blood Hunter Archives

The Blood Hunters work hard to keep their secrets to themselves, but despite that one of our best agents managed to uncover the location of their archives. As they were hastily evacuating their citadel the blood hunters couldn’t leave their most dangerous secrets behind, so they emptied the archives. The archives were a secret compartment of the citadel hidden under lock and key and protected by magical wards where they stored their accumulated knowledge over the years. Dark magic and profane mysteries were, of course, most valued and vigorously protected. Around half of the contents of the archives were immediately incinerated as they deemed them too dangerous if they should fall into the wrong hands, and they were unable to carry all their knowledge with them. Our agents were unable to access any of these as they were put to flame under close watch. The other half of the archives ended up being distributed between the higher ranking officers. Some of these books, scrolls and artifacts were taken by the high ranking officials for protection and use, and some were put into magical lockboxes, buried and hidden at specific locations. Our agents reason that the materials that they took with themselves into hiding are their high priority assets, while the ones they put away in remote caves, hid away in dungeons, buried underneath the earth and placed in barrels at the bottom of lakes are their lower priority assets. Our best agent had the presence of mind to follow them as they hid away their lockboxes and create for us an encrypted map of the drop sites. Unfortunately, he was the only one who thought of this, and as he was a single faerie he couldn’t follow all the officers. He noted on his crude map a total of 7 drop sites. When he returned to inspect them, however, 4 of the 7 were moved. Possibly the Blood Hunters sensed that they were compromised? We are uncertain.

First of the three lockboxes

Frederick

Our agents were unable to bypass the protection on most of the lockboxes, we have so far succeeded only to open one of the three. Furthermore, our agents are putting great care into ensuring that any lockbox and archives they mess with are left in the same state that they were found in. Our agent wrote this information down directly from a note concerning the “Periculo Arcanum” hidden in the opened archive: “..when asked about the origin of his power the mysterious stranger spoke of a dark grimoire called “The Periculo Arcanum”. Naturally, I inquired further about it’s significance, but the broken man would reveal very little..” Now a page in their codex of dark artifacts. “Periculo Arcanum A magical tome written by a lich called Dhok’nuz. According to Frederick this tome comes from a different world, just as he does. Supposedly this lich and the tome originate from his home world as well? If any of this “planes” nonsense is true, that is. The tome itself wasn’t an extremely powerful item, the magic suffused into its pages served only a protective purpose, but it was extremely valuable still. The true power of the tome came from the knowledge hidden within. Knowledge which, according to Frederick, could give one the power to become akin to a god. We cannot confirm any of this however as the tome allegedly no longer exists. Frederick claims he learnt all he needed from it, the most powerful spells and rituals which would allow him to “fulfill his purpose”, so it had no reason to exist anymore except temptation. When asked what knowledge he deemed unnecessary and discarded he said “some magic is too foul even for me to use”. Needless to say it is obvious he is lying. The dark magic he displayed is enough to make some of our hardest veterans cry out in disgust and he is literally a necromancer who steals people’s bodies and souls. Still, as far as we are concerned the tome doesn’t exist and this topic can be closed. Should it ever surface however we must contain it.”
